Travel Experience in Nepal

By Anaella, “French Traveller”

It is hard, to sum up, a beautiful and great trip in a few words, but Nepal is quite impressive. It offers incredible landscapes, many different, between the snow-capped mountains, the wild animals in the parks, the views of the valleys, the horizon, the calm and relaxing villages, Kathmandu which moves everywhere, the Magnificent lakes, nature to the horizon … These places that allow us to be in osmosis with nature, with ourselves … Nepal takes you the words from the mouth! And I know I still have a lot to discover … The Nepalese population as pleasant as the landscapes is a kindness and an exceptional kindness. They are helpful, smiling, relaxing, courageous and strong despite the hardships. We loved their companies, and I want to thank those who fell on our path and who offered us these priceless moments, it is also you that makes us want to come back to Nepal.

My Travel Experience in Nepal

I went to Nepal in November 2015 accompanied by my little sister, and we were amazed by this country. A lot of feedback tells us that we started with a single country and that few will reach the height of Nepal. We arrived by Sauraha, at 5 am, woke up in excitement, not sure why the bus stops, on must go down, we are lost! But a charming Nepalese comes to offer us his help, explaining that it is the border India / Nepal, accompanies us for the few administrative steps, introduces us to his friends, make us taste they’re incredible…

Unfortunately, it is the time of the exit for our road, but the first hours in Nepal are already rich in emotions.

We stop in Lumbini. These few days of rest, calm, nature, visiting majestic temples are precious. The meeting with Jupiter (our host) and his family is very appreciative also, he is smiling, interesting, warm, he advises us on our tours, and we greatly facilitated our way to get to Chitwan National Park. Arriving at our guesthouse in Chitwan, we offer a meeting of an exciting young man, we offer you a drink for our arrival, and so we present the different offers for Chitwan. Son of speech easily lasts one hour … Tent everything to coax us, big gestures, small jokes, a few French sentences…

Once in the village, we met 2 guides of Chitwan, with whom on the fast grave agreed for our visit to the famous National Park. We found them the next morning, and we had a magical day with them. On a market more than 25 km along the day and without feeling it, we discovered plants, insects, experience guides, on a chance to see several rhinoceros, crocodiles, families of monkeys, A trail of a tiger, a wild boar … the guides handed us their knowledge and were excellent company, we even ended our day sharing a beer with them, and we kept discussing a few hours with These warm guides.

Arriving at Pokhara, we are settled to the south of the lake.

We took the longest way to get to the Pagoda, on the way, a Nepalese approached us, some time ago to see the view from his hotel and on a good follow :). After admiring the peace pagoda, we came down through a small village. We stopped in a small, authentic Nepalese restaurant, and we did well, the food is excellent, our host is really friendly, the price is really affordable compared to large and good plates. We go straight across to finish our meal with a tea, and again on are not disappointed with the place!

We went on our way to visit the Mahadev (Gupteshwor) caves and Devi’s Waterfall, we met the dishes of children on the road, who laugh, who play, who greet us !!

And we are praised slowly on Pokhara to admire on each side of the road, the smiles and the authentic life of the Nepalese.

The next day we go pedaling to the Temple Varahi Mandir, we enjoy a superb view of the hills, the mountains, Pokhara, the beautiful blue of this lake … Amazing! This city is magical, to realize that would say a little paradise, I am so happy to discover it! We end the day by the sunset at the “view Pokhara”. The next day we decided to change our guest house to find ourselves north of the lake, arrived at a guest house which is complete, the boss advises us to climb a little more to get to another … The steps Are deserved.. .. We arrive at a guest house, family, comfortable, and we still discover a superb view on Pokhara. The family is very welcoming and warm, we are delighted to meet.

We take advantage of Pokhara by strolling through the narrow streets, discovering the French Bakery, a Nepalese who went to France to learn French viennoiserie, it is a success! We do great encounters, these two French people settled in Nepal and who do paragliding, these tourists as we amazed by Nepal, a couturier, a seller of cloth, a salesman of food, jewelry … so smiling, sympathetic. .. On the hours stay with each person!!

As Pokhara is a magical city, we went there so well … we take the sudden decision to get off Sarangkot in paragliding! This project was not planned at all; on the contrary, prices are quite similar in France.

But fortunately, we did it =)

We are on the march to get from Pokhara to Sarangkot on foot. This hike is quite tough but so beautiful to do. On the way we come across small villages, children, smiles, beautiful hills, at every step, I turn to admire the view of the lake, I would not forget this picture! Arrived at Sarangkot, we understand that everything deserves ^ ^ the view is impregnable, majestic, magic … It feels good … We need nothing else!

I fell ill all night! I have very little sleep, I am thirsty … the alarm clock sounds, it is time to see the sunrise … I would not miss another wonder so despite my condition we are preparing … and We go to the balcony of the hotel.

The sunset was magnificent, and the sunrise was so too! Difficult to find the right words to describe this moment. The sun is lit slowly, and we face an indescribable view, we discover snowy mountains, they are so impressive, we feel they are right next to us … We see Pokhara, its lake, Its hills … One feels so small face this horizon, this beauty! We take advantage of this moment to have a breakfast, finally, I would have just eaten an apple ^ ^ and then we go to the inevitable point of view of Sarangkot.

And here, we discover a part of the Himalayan chain, we are lucky to have a blue sky without clouds, to admire these mountains so majestic that they take away the words of the mouth, and We remain a good hour to savor this moment, again magical! We also met teenagers with whom we share a few sentences in English, some photos, some smiles. The Nepalese girls are beautiful, beautiful!

In view of my condition, I take the opportunity to rest a little before jumping in paragliding. It is finally time, I wake up, by chance, I am much better, and I regained all my energy! Our two new friends and all the team come to look for us in Jeep, we must be a good ten ^^

Everyone starts to prepare, the moment is approaching, we are surprisingly relaxed with my little sister, the impression that we do not know what have done here. Come to the turn of my little sister, I see her fly after having run a few steps, it looks so simple to fly 🙂 I’m relaxed, I feel safe, I’m amazed at the landscape that is offered to me, decidedly Pokhara is beautiful On all angles. The view is incredible, once again we see the Himalayan mountain ranges, the hills surrounding Pokhara, its lake, its pagoda … This time in Nepal, this man who made me fly Never want to forget it! Our landing is as pleasant as our departure, as our flight … We always feel good … In osmosis with our body, nature … A Strange feeling of total well-being!

Our host immediately agreed to keep our large backpacks, we were told the fact that he did not need to clean the room, that we could keep the same on our return, but those Nepalese. .. so helpful …. we were given the same room, so the same great view ^^ but completely re-clean … loves … And now my little sister’s turn to go through the same state I had this night … shame it falls in the day for her, but we still positions, and despite being fallen ill, it will have us Not to stop our little hike, to discover landscapes that remove the words of the mouth and our super jump in paragliding!

I go to Pokhara in search of a lemon for my little sister, I still fall on a charming Nepalese woman, I come back to the guest house to prepare a little drink, and then I discover that I did not buy a lemon but An orange ^ ^ And yes in Nepal, some oranges are green … In France they are all orange … and our lemons are either green or yellow ^^

No matter, our great hosts took care of her, plate and drink specially prepared for her, and after a good night, everything went better!

On our way to Bandipur, we come upon Mila, our new host, the sun all by herself. She presents her husband and her teenager with whom we will have a good exchange of Nepalese culture, Nepal’s position, culture and French life too.It presents its rooftop, and thus another splendid view on a part of the chain of the Himalayas, although they are more distant, it is to see also, the mountains have the impression to be suspended from the top , They are magical, the view is magic, not to mention the view of the village of Bandipur.

We walked along and enjoyed the authentic lanes of Bandipur, filled with color, flowers, and children, temples … before falling on an elderly and wonderful woman. The language barrier is there, but it did not spoil this great moment. Interplead by our different objects, she leafs through our book on Nepal, looks at our lighter, and we even find that she has pain in the lower back, I offer to massage her a little, but she prefers that I tapped enough, Then here I tapped on his back, and we laugh all three 🙂 This moment was short, but before it was found a little further … When we meet again, it makes us understand that we must follow it, we run, little by little we discover a superb view, over the valley, and so the sunset. We are already very happy to have met her and we thank her for taking us here, but she does not stop there, she searches, searches, and finds a key, which opens the temple right next to us. She shows us where she lives, inside the temple, pictures of her family. One remains without words; this moment is precious and ends with one of his prayers. We are touched; we leave her, watching her admire the hidden view of the valley.

The next morning, wake up early enough, to savor the sunrise on the high temple of Thani Mani. Again the view is well deserved with the small hundreds of steps. Bandipur is truly remarkable, this small village, in height, which allows us to have a view almost 360 degrees on the horizon, and which makes us benefit once more from these mountains, these huge hills, One sees in the distance, the mist which rises and makes discover little by little a magnificent landscape. We are both to admire this sight, and we remain there a good hour.

En route for breakfast in the main lane of Bandipur, we savor our plate and a super Lassi, we enjoy watching these students filled with smile, joy, who go to school.

Here we are on the road to Ramkot, which again offers us splendid views, filled with greenery, which gives us this feeling of solitude and well-being. We put music to motivate ourselves for this rather rough walk under the sun, and we see a woman dressed in pink in the distance, getting closer and closer, we see that this woman is dancing on our music, she Is delighted to exchange a few words and smiles with us, and we appreciate once again this moment of simplicity. Arriving at Ramkot, we discover a splendid spot, and thus a different but splendid view on a part of the chain of the Himalaya; we take advantage of it for a few hours and take our picnic while admiring a spectacle of nature.

On the way back to Bandipur, we meet this famous woman dressed in pink, who insists on offering us a tea and presenting us to her family, unfortunately, the weather presses us, the sun sets…

Pokhara remains to me a little paradise, but Bandipur charmed me with its authenticity, its simplicity, its places filled with peace and calm.

The end of the journey is approaching, we are in Kathmandu, still on the bus, and we open our eyes to discover this immense city that moves everywhere, surrounded by these high hills. We will sleep in the neighborhood of Thamel which is reputed to be noisy :). We quickly and easily adapt to the life of Kathmandu, we do not find this city especially noisy or dusty compared to other places, we love to stroll through the alleys and get lost, we love to test restaurants, make Shopping, bargain with the merchants :), visiting the many different temples … in short we love Kathmandu and the Thamel city.

We obviously visit the Kathmandu valley, passing through Boudhanath, Patan, and little known but grand temples like the Gokarna Mahadev Temple and the Changu Narayan temple. We booked Bakthapur for our last day, and we went by bus, the ride was memorable with those students with whom we had a lot of fun ^^

We enjoyed a bit of Bhaktapur, a restaurant with a view of its Durbar Square, before walking to Nagarkot, on the road we met several times, friendly, magical, unforgettable, Not been with us this time, but despite the snowy mountains, we had the right to a splendid sunset over the valley. A great unforgettable walk.

We ended our trip with the last day in Kathmandu and its many alleys, and as a bonus of departure, our plane offered us a magnificent view of the Himalayan chain, the majestic, which shows us that we still have full Places to discover in Nepal.
